Asserted extortion: EFCC charges bank staff, others

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Sokoto has summoned a financier, Ezeagbor Chijioke close by two others Anthony Chidiebere Nneji and Ibenegbu Chukwudi Francis.

They were summoned before Justice Muhammad of the Sokoto State High Court on four-check charges on connivance, fraud and acquiring cash by misrepresentations to the tune of N1million.

The office got knowledge of supposed connivance to dupe one Olajide Adeshina Muhammad Misbahudeen under the appearance of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Treasury Bill speculation.

EFCC said the suspects supposedly manufactured and gave Misbahudeen a phony testament.

Check one read: “That you Ezeagbor Chijioke while being the Direct Sales Agent of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc, Anthony Chidiebere Nneji and Ibenegbu Chukwudi Francis of the C. S. Paper Works business focus, approximately the twentieth day of February 2020 at Sokoto, inside the locale of this decent court, with purpose to cheat dishonestly got the absolute entirety of N1,000,000 from one Olajide Adeshina Muhammad Misbahudeen under the appearance of putting the cash in Central Bank of Nigeria Treasury Bills which you knew to be bogus and subsequently dedicated an offense in spite of Section 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offenses Act, 2006 and culpable under Section 1(3) of a similar Act.”

The respondents argued not blameworthy to the charges when they were perused.

Arraignment counsel, S. H. Sa’ad requested a date for beginning of preliminary.

Advice to the primary litigant, Y. Y. Gwazawa, and advice to the co-charged petitioned God for time to document bail applications.

Equity Muhammad dismissed the case to September 24, 2020 for preliminary.

He requested that the respondents be remanded in the NCS forthcoming the meeting and assurance of bail.
